#Smartmarketing: The Kardashian Brand

I received a request to review the Kardashian brand for my next edition of #smartmarketing.

Kim Kardashian

I honestly respect the Kardashians/Jenners so much when it comes to building a business/brand.  They have their hands in so many business ventures that I can’t even keep up so with a little help from the good people at Forbes and The Huffington Post,  here are just some of their money-making ventures.

The infamous sex tape

Kim Kardashian settled a lawsuit out of court for $5,000,000 against Vivid Entertainment for the distribution of her sex tape with then boyfriend Ray J.

Keeping Up with The Kardashians

The show has been a success on the E! Network for over the past 6 years, so much that each cast member has had their own spin off show: (Khloe and Kourtney take Miami, Kourtney and Kim take NY, etc.). In 2012, the family signed a $40 million dollar contract with the E! Network to produce three more seasons.

Social Media

It has been reported that Kim Kardashian charges $25,000 to mention a brand in one single tweet!

Shoe Dazzle

Kim is the co-founder and chief stylist to popular shoe sight Shoedazzle.com, where fashionistas can purchase shoes for $39.95.

Sears Collection

The Kardashian Kollection for Sears makes between $200 million and $300 million in sales in 2012!-(source: dailymail.co.uk)

E! News reported that between Khloé and her husband Lamar Odom’s “Unbreakable” unisex fragrance and Kim’s three scents, the Kardashians rake in another $50,000,000 in making people smell like them. (source: Huffingtonpost)

Personal Appearances

Kim Kardashian demands about $100,000 per appearance, even up to $1,000,000 for international appearances!

The Kardashians also have their own line of nail polishes, shoes, and handbags.  Kanye West even mentioned to the media that him and he new fiancee would consider broadcasting their wedding for profit, for charity of course!

(Sighs….) I would probably live comfortably for the rest of my life raking in just one days worth of income from the Kardashian brand.

What other Kardashian businesses can you add to the list?

  1. After reading this blog post, I couldn’t agree more about the Kardashians knowing how to make a dollar! They know how to make millions! I thought this was pretty interesting to read as well, seeing as I’m somewhat of a fan of the Kardashians and their beautiful clothing line too. They seriously know what smart marketing is! I enjoyed reading this!
